Abortionists and Their Staff

– by Jean M. Heimann

Lord, we lift up to you all abortionists and their staffs, including all technicians, nurses, receptionists, counselors, chaplains, and all who are employed or voluntarily assisting with the killing of the unborn in any way.  We place each one of them in the innermost recesses of Your Sacred Heart — Your Heart of Mercy, compassion and love for all Your children. We pray that they will accept the supernatural graces that You give them this day to renounce the horrific killing of Your children; the psychological, physical, and spiritual harm they are doing to the women through their actions; and the tremendous spiritual, physical and psychological harm they are doing to themselves. Give them an abundance of courage and strength to say “no” to murder and to escape the culture of death and the constant torment and resentment that they experience in their lives. As they approach You, encourage them to draw nearer, remove the veil that covers their eyes and blinds them to the truth.  Pour out Your tender, loving mercy upon them that they will  see the truth, the reality, and the consequences of their actions.  Draw them into the light of Your love and penetrate their souls with the light of truth, the light of Your knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. We pray this in the holy name of Jesus, through the intercession of our Blessed Virgin Mary. For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on them and on the whole world.

St. Gianna Beretta Molla, pray for them.
Blessed Anna Maria Taige, pray for them.
Pope John Paul, the Great, pray for them.

Abortuary’s Spiritual Adoption

– by Father Frank Pavone

Father, all life is in Your care. You have entrusted us to one another, that we may show our brothers and sisters the same love You have for us. We pray, then, for the least among us, the children in the womb. Protect them from the violence of abortion.

We pray for those that are scheduled to die at [fill in name of abortuary] Save them from death. Give new hope to their parents, that they may turn away from the desperate act of abortion. Grant conversion to the abortionist and to the staff. Show us how we are to respond to the bloodshed in our midst. And, lead us to the day when this place of death will be transformed into a haven of life. Guard us with your joy and your peace, for in You, life is victorious. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

Death Penalty

– by Helen Prejean, CSJ

God of Compassion, You let your rain fall on the just and the unjust. Expand and deepen our hearts so that we love as You love, even those among us who have caused the greatest pain by taking life. For there is in our land a cry for vengeance as we fill up death rows and kill the killers in the name of justice, in the name of peace. You suffered execution at the hands of the state but you did not let hatred overcome you. Help us to reach out to victims of violence so that Your enduring love may help them heal. Holy Spirit of God, You strengthen us in the struggle for justice. Help us work tirelessly for the abolition of state-sanctioned death and to renew our society in its very heart so that violence will be no more.

Amen.

Dying

May Christ Who was crucified for your sake free you from excruciating pain. May Christ Who died for you free you from the death that never ends. May Christ the Son of the living God, set you in the ever green loveliness of His Paradise, and may He, the true Shepherd recognize you as one of His own. May you see your Redeemer face to face and standing in His presence forever, may you see with joyful eyes Truth revealed in all its fullness.

Amen.

God Father of All Life

– from Priests for Life

Eternal God, You have revealed Yourself as the Father of all Life.  We praise You for the Fatherly care which You extend to all creation, and especially to us, made in Your image and likeness. Father, extend Your hand of protection to those threatened by abortion, and save them from its destructive power. Give Your strength to all fathers, that they may never give in to the fears that may tempt them to facilitate abortion. Bless our families and bless our land, that we may have the joy of welcoming and nurturing the life of which You are the Source and the Eternal Father.

Amen.

Blessed Pope John Paul II for Life

– Encyclical Letter “The Gospel of Life” Given in Rome, on March 25, the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, in the year 1995.

O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life: Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies to be born, of the poor whose lives are made difficult, of men and women who are victims of brutal violence, of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference or out of misguided mercy. Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of life with honesty and love to the people of our time. Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel as a gift ever new, the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout their lives and the courage to bear witness to it resolutely, in order to build, together with all people of good will, the civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and Lover of life.

Amen.

Chronically Ill

– from Catholic Doors Ministry

Loving God, Rock of strength for those who trust in You; Comforter of those who call on you. Hear the cry of those who suffer from constant sickness or weakness, and embrace them in Your loving arms. As You have united them to the suffering of Christ in the waters of baptism, be their companion on the way of the cross, give them peace, and strengthen them with the vision of your kingdom. We make this prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Persecuted Christians

Father in Heaven, You make Your sun shine on good and bad alike. Your Son, Jesus Christ, died for us all and in His glorious resurrection He still retains the five wounds of His Passion. With His divine power He now sustains all those who suffer persecution and martyrdom for the sake of their fidelity to the faith of the Church. Merciful and mighty Father, do not allow Cain to return again to murder helpless Abel, innocent Abel. May persecuted Christians around the world remain, like Mary, their Mother, together at the foot of the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ the Most Holy Martyr. Comfort those menaced by violence and those oppressed by uncertainty. May Your Holy Spirit of love make  fruitful the witness and the blood of those who die forgiving.

Amen.

Repentance for Having Destroyed Life

– by Joseph of Jesus and Mary, The Work of God Apostolate

Heavenly Father, Almighty God. I humble myself before your Presence. Father of life, Father of all spirits. I have sinned against you, I have broken your commandment that says “You shall not kill.” I repent of my crime, I admit my guilt and I ask you to forgive me. You have said an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth and a life for a life [Leviticus 24:17-21]; if you look at my iniquities I will be lost forever, but with you is found mercy and love [Psalm 130:2-3]. Lord have mercy on me, a sinner. Lord you have appointed repentance for the forgiveness of sins , you have given power to your Church to forgive sins. I promise to confess my sins to a Catholic priest and I beg you to heal the wounds of my soul. Heal me O Lord, purify me from all my iniquities. Precious Blood of Jesus cover me, I have shed human blood, I have destroyed life and you are life, now I beg you Lord by the power of your Precious Blood that you forgive me and deliver me from my iniquities. Blessed Mother Mary, Virgin mother of all the living, mother of life, I am your child, forgive me my sins and pray for me, take me into the refuge of your Immaculate Heart and help me to live God’s commandments. Mother Mary you are the mother of that human being that I rejected, I entrust it to you and to your Son my Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for us O Holy Mother of God that we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.

Amen.

Suicidal

Lord, I come before You with a heavy heart. I feel so much and yet sometimes I feel nothing at all. I don’t know where to turn, who to talk to, or how to deal with the things going on in my life. You see everything, Lord. You know everything, Lord. Yet when I seek You it is so hard to feel You here with me. Lord, help me through this. I don’t see any other way to get out of this. There is no light at the end of my tunnel, yet everyone says You can show it to me. Lord, help me find that light. Let it be Your light. Give me someone to help. Let me feel You with me. Lord, let me see what You provide and see an alternative to taking my life. Let me feel Your blessings and comfort.

Amen.

Suicidal Friend

Lord, I come before You with a heavy heart for my friend. He/She is struggling so much right now with the things happening in his/her life. I know You can be his/her greatest comfort. I know You can step in and make a difference. Show me how I can best help him/her. Give me the words and actions that will keep him/her from taking that ultimate step of suicide, Lord. Let him/her see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that suicide is not the route to take. Lord, let Your presence be felt in his/her life and let your comfort be what he/she needs.

Amen.

Conscience Rights In Health Care

Father, in Jesus our Lord, we praise and thank you for your most precious gift of human life and for forming us in your divine image. Keep us, the dwelling place of your most Holy Spirit, ever healthy in body and soul. Jesus, Divine Healer, pour your grace upon all those afflicted with illness or disease. Protect from all harm those who are vulnerable due to sickness, suffering, frailty, poverty or age, whether elderly or unborn. Holy Spirit, touch the hearts of all who serve human life in medicine and science, so they will protect the dignity of each person, from conception to natural death, and remain faithful advocates of all entrusted to their care. Grant those who are called to serve as health care providers renewed conviction in their ministry, and increased wisdom to treat the whole person, and not merely the illness. Protect the right of health care providers to serve their patients without being forced to violate their moral and religious convictions. Guard them against discrimination, that they might be free to follow you faithfully while fulfilling their professional duties. Grant our lawmakers the wisdom and courage to uphold conscience rights for those called to the ministry of healing, and help them resist the pressure to become collaborators in the culture of death. Give us strength to be bold and joyful witnesses to the truth that every human life is sacred. In your goodness, guard our freedom to live out our faith and to follow you in all that we do. Father, we ask this in Jesus’ name, through the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Terminally Ill

– by Rev. Kenneth W. Collins

Lord, forgive them any sins that they may have committed.  If it is Your will, raise them up to a healthy body and a sound mind to serve the residue of their days in Your service and to Your glory.  If it is not Your will to heal them, then recognize them as a lamb of Your fold and a sheep of Your flock.  Send Your holy angels to protect them from all spiritual harm, to guide and direct them, to counsel and defend them.  Take them into the paradise that You have prepared for those who love You. Let them stand in the resurrection of the just on the Last Day and live with You in Your glory forever more.

Amen.

Disabled
Portrait of cute baby boy with Down syndrome in home living room

God of Compassion, in Jesus Christ You cared for those who were blind and deaf, crippled or slow to learn.  Though all of us need help, give special care to those who are disabled, particularly (mention names here). By our concern may they know the love You have for them, and come to trust in You, through Jesus Christ Who came to heal.

Amen.

Unborn

– from EWTN

Heavenly Father, in Your love for us, protect against the wickedness of the devil, those helpless little ones to whom You have given the gift of life. Touch with pity the hearts of those women pregnant in our world today who are not thinking of motherhood. Help them to see that the child they carry is made in Your image – as well as theirs – made for eternal life. Dispel their fear and selfishness; give them true womanly hearts to love their babies and give them birth and all the needed care that a mother can give. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord, Who lives and reigns forever and ever.

Amen.

Domestic Violence

– BeliefNet

God of peace, there are many places and many people who do not experience your peace. Right now there are many, many women and children who live under the dark weight of the fear of violence right in their own homes. We pray for your protection, and for wisdom for friends and officials to help bring that right protection to them. We pray for the many men who themselves feel powerless and confused about their relationships. We ask that you would help them find healthy ways to work out their frustrations and to find hope without resorting to destructive impulses. God, work in our country to stem this epidemic. We ask for your perfect peace.

Amen.

Prayers to the Saints

St. Benedict

O glorious St. Benedict, sublime model of all virtues, pure vessel of God’s grace! Behold me, humbly kneeling at thy feet. I implore thy loving heart to pray for me before the throne of God. To thee I have recourse in all the dangers which daily surround me. Shield me against my enemies, inspire me to imitate thee in all things. May thy blessing be with me always, so that I may shun whatever God forbids and avoid the occasions of sin. Graciously obtain for me from God those favors and graces of which I stand so much in need, in the trials, miseries and afflictions of life. Thy heart was always so full of love, compassion, and mercy towards those who were afflicted or troubled in any way. Thou didst never dismiss without consolation and assistance any one who had re-course to thee. I therefore invoke thy powerful intercession, in the confident hope that thou wilt hear my prayers and obtain for me the special grace and favor I so earnestly implore (mention it here), if it be for the greater glory of God and the welfare of my soul. Help me, O great St. Benedict, to live and die as a faithful child of God, to be ever submissive to His holy will, and to attain the eternal happiness of heaven.

Amen.

St. Gerard

St. Gerard, you worshiped Jesus as the Lord of Life. I ask you today to pray for my special intention (mention it here). Lift up to Jesus all those who seek to conceive a child, all those having difficult pregnancies, all who have suffered the loss of a child, and all who lovingly lift up their children to God. Pray that all of us, by caring for mothers, fathers, and children born and unborn. May we build a Culture of Life, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

St. Micheal the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our  protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into Hell, Satan and all the other evil spirits, who wander about the world, seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.
